New BJP chief selection to align with RSS vision, consider caste and age factors

With the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections behind them and the Winter Session of Parliament concluded, the BJP is shifting its focus to internal organizational elections. This process will culminate in the selection of a new party president, expected by the end of February next year.

Currently, state units are engaged in electing booth, district, and division-level presidents. Once this stage is complete, the party’s central leadership will appoint new state presidents, with significant changes anticipated in at least half the states. Following this, the BJP will turn its attention to electing a new national president.

The BJP’s strong performance in recent Assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra has boosted the confidence of its top leaders as they approach this crucial decision. However, lessons from past experiences, especially during the Lok Sabha elections, remain fresh. After tensions arose when the RSS distanced itself following comments by BJP chief J.P. Nadda about the party being “saksham (capable)” without external support, the BJP is keen to ensure the RSS’s views are carefully considered this time around.

The selection process will also reflect the influence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, whose authority continues to shape the party’s direction. Sources indicate that Modi will likely choose someone with a robust organizational background who aligns with the RSS’s ideology and priorities.

The new president’s role will be critical, not just in managing the party’s internal affairs but also in preparing for the next phase of electoral challenges. With expectations high and the stakes even higher, the BJP’s leadership is determined to make a choice that ensures unity, strength, and alignment with both the party’s goals and the RSS’s guidance.
